CURRENCY
Main currency in Moscow is rubles (RUB).
As per Russian legislation it is allowed to import up to $ 10,000 (or its equivalent in any currency) through the Russian customs without filling in a declaration. The limitations apply only to cash, funds on bank cards are unlimited.

Currency exchange offices are easy to find from the street, as such offices put out glowing display boards with currency rates near their entrances. Each bank sets its own currency exchange rate based on rates of the Central Bank of Russia, as well as on currency value at the Moscow Stock Exchange. Central Bank rates are daily published on Central Bank website. Note that exchange rate in the banks may differ from the official CB rate, but exchange rates for buying and selling currency are allowed to deviate from the CB rate only by 10% (up or down). Difference in currency value may be more favorable when exchanging large sums.
It is possible to withdraw funds from a bank card via an ATM, which is an alternative for getting rubles in cash. However, not all ATMs allow to withdraw cash in foreign currency. Usually such function is available in menus of ATMs of foreign bank subsidiaries.
USD and EUR may be exchanged in any exchange office. Information on whether it is possible to exchange other currencies shall be researched in advance via the Internet.
Any type of currency may be exchanged in Sberbank, which is the largest state bank. Offices of this bank are available in all cities of the Conference.

Cash-free payments are rather widespread in Russia, especially in big cities: in large sales units you can pay for goods via a terminal. Herewith, the bank processing the payment converts the required sum into rubles and withdraws them from the card. This is probably the most economically efficient way, as conversion is performed as per internal rate of the bank, which may be more favorable than exchanging for cash.
In Russia payments for goods are conducted only in rubles. In Russia all main types of international plastic cards are accepted for payment. Information on whether the sales unit accepts cards for payment and types of such cards are usually given at the entrance on stickers, as well as near the register. Prior to making an order in a restaurant or cafe, it is better to ask whether they accept card payments.
